Lift

Lift is composed of elements from vintage pianos and organs, including flattened organ pipes that still bear their original note markings. The painted backdrop incorporates natural white goose feathers, a nod to the sweeping curve of an outstretched bird’s wing that inspired the piece.

In presenting this work, I explored two options: with a backboard and frame, and as a free-floating composition. Both approaches revealed different qualities—one grounding the piece with a sense of presence, the other allowing it to feel lighter and more ethereal. Ultimately, showing both options was an intentional choice to let the artwork speak in multiple ways.

Created to evoke hope and renewed strength, Lift echoes the promise of Isaiah 40:31.
