"Beautiful Exchange"

38” x 26” x 3” (each)

Constructed from reclaimed drumsticks, guitar picks, and piano strings, this paired work is anchored by hand-carved birch medallions. Familiar instruments are dismantled and reassembled, allowing sound to become stillness and rhythm to become form.

Beautiful Exchange was commissioned in response to a prayer meditation deeply meaningful to the client’s husband. The meditation reflects on the Lamb of God stepping into the chaos of the sea—taking our place—so that we might find rest, peace, and safety beside quiet streams. The composition visually holds this tension and resolution: movement and surrender, turbulence and calm.

Created as a surprise birthday gift, the piece now lives in the client’s law firm office in Fuquay Varina, North Carolina—serving as a daily reminder of peace found through sacrifice, and rest born from trust.
