“Rivers of Gold” (SOLD)
“Rivers of Gold” (SOLD)
70” × 40”
Rivers of Gold was created in response to a simple phrase sensed in prayer: “There’s gold in these rivers.” Made for Youth With A Mission in Starkville, Mississippi, the piece celebrates the beauty, value, and calling of the people of this land.
Inspired by Revelation 22:2—“The healing of the nations is in these rivers”—the work serves as a prophetic statement over Mississippi, whose very name means “great river” or “father of rivers.”
The raised center form echoes a magnolia leaf—Mississippi’s state tree and flower—its veins flowing outward like branching rivers. The textured backdrop is built from crushed pine needles, honoring the Loblolly pine, the state’s most common tree. Gold woven throughout symbolizes the worth, dignity, and spiritual richness of the region.
The “leaves” are crafted from a polyester/cork/gold-flake composite, while layers of pine needle create the deep charcoal background. This piece blends natural materials, symbolic imagery, and faith-filled intention to declare healing, hope, and value over the people of Mississippi.
