"The Broken Guitar" (SOLD)

$0.00
sold out

3’ x 6’

This commission piece is made out of a single acoustic guitar on a hardwood backboard. No stain was used other than the backboard and frame. Different tones were accomplished by sanding down to various depths of the guitar wood ply.

The Story:

A person reached out to me to see if I could make an art piece out of the acoustic guitar that her dad gave her when she moved to Nashville to pursue music. Her life took some unexpected twists and turns over the years and she ended up meeting her husband in Nashville. God has built a beautiful life with a house full of children and far more “fruit“ then a life chasing after stardom would have produced. She was given the guitar when she was 18 years old and she never learned how to play it. She is in her 40s now and the guitar was just collecting dust, but she wanted to have something made to represent the journey that God has taken her on. In the midst of creating this piece I heard one sentence in my spirit “The broken guitar is the broken Jar”. I immediately thought of the story of Mary from John 12. I meditated on that line and finished a poem to go along with the art piece for their family.

The broken guitar is the broken Jar

A sacrifice sweeter than sound

surrendered dreams become kingdom seeds

Sown in God’s fertile ground

Fame and Fortune could never find what this family has found

Beauty for ashes and Joy for mourning

You see? He turns it all around

A house in His will becomes a city on a hill

A light for all that was lost - to be found.
