Seraph is a sculptural meditation on the celestial beings described in ancient scripture—specifically the Seraphim, or “burning ones.” Composed from the parts of two acoustic pianos, the work evokes the six-winged angels spoken of in sacred texts: two wings covering the face, two the feet, and two for flight.

The reverse side of each piano key—its counterweight—is used to symbolize the many eyes said to cover these heavenly creatures, suggesting both divine vision and mystery. The result is a piece that emanates a quiet sense of protection, awe, and reverence, inviting viewers to contemplate the unseen realms.
