Intension is composed of blue steel piano tuning pins—decades-old elements that hold tension so that pianos can sing. In much the same way, life is held together by moments of tension that can feel weighty and unresolved, yet are part of a greater picture in progress.

This piece draws inspiration from the Greek word Kairos—the idea of an appointed, opportune time when everything converges and begins to make sense. Up close, the individual pins speak of pressure and precision; step back, and a “moment” emerges—a quiet revelation that reminds us that God’s intention often unfolds in the perfect time, when tension meets purpose. Sometimes His intention is simply this: to let us rest in the tension, without letting the tension rest in us.
